Welcome to the m3 Lab

The Micromachining and Manufacturing Modeling Lab (m3), founded in 2010 at the Technical University of Crete, focuses on advanced manufacturing and micromachining. It combines education, research, and industry collaboration in areas such as process simulation, CAD/CAM/CAE, finite element analysis, and microtechnologies. Its research covers manufacturing processes like milling, turning, drilling, and laser engraving, with emphasis on optimization and innovation supported by national and European funding.

Machining

Milling is today the most competent, productive and flexible-manufacturing methods for complicated or sculptured surfaces

Gears

Gear hobbing, as any cutting process based on the rolling principle, is a signally multiparametric and complicated gear fabrication method

Various

The basic principle of the laser engraving process is that through laser beam pulses, a large amount of heat is imparted locally into the material of the workpiece that must be removed in order to cause its sublimation
